Mission Accomplished

The Chicago Tribune reports the Texas National Guard is in the process of leaving the Chicagoland area. Troops started leaving Elwood, about 20 miles southwest of downtown, not too far from the Old Joliet Prison, on Monday; there were about 200 of them stationed in total. And last Friday, DHS shut down its command center at Naval Station Great Lakes, nearly an hour north of the city of Chicago.

The Texas National Guard troops only saw one day of activity since their arrival the first week of October: They helped guard the Broadview ICE detention center. A judge immediately blocked them in court. The Tribune reports seven troops got a head start going home, sent home early for being too far out of shape.

But some CBP and ICE agents will stay, and Broadview remains active.

Charlotte has seen about 250 CBP/ICE arrests to date.
